Support Team Assisted Response (STAR) Program

The Struggle of Love Foundation is a proud partner of the Support Team Assisted Response (STAR) Program -- an innovative, community-focused alternative to traditional emergency response.

The STAR Program dispatches teams of trained behavioral health clinicians and paramedics to respond to non-violent, low-risk 9-1-1 calls involving individuals experiencing mental health challenges, substance use crises, or emotional distress. Instead of a police response, STAR offers trauma-informed, compassionate care that prioritizes connection, de-escalation, and access to appropriate resources.

This civilian-led emergency response is available 24/7 and dispatched through Denver's 9-1-1 system. The goal: to meet community members where they are, provide immediate support, and reduce unnecessary interactions with the criminal justice system.

If you or someone you know is in need of support, call 9-1-1 or 720-913-STAR (7827) and request STAR.

For confidential and immediate emotional or mental health help, contact Colorado Crisis Services:

Crisis support is also available in person, 24/7/365, at the Denver Walk-In Center:

4353 E. Colfax Avenue, Denver, CO 80220

Together with STAR, we're working to build safer, healthier, and more compassionate communities.
